I am an Alabama artist, born in Tuscaloosa and raised in Montgomery. Art and nature were my first loves. After a long detour into science, German and history, I returned to art, concentrating on painting. I received a BA, MA and BFA from Tulane University in New Orleans; a graduate scholarship in art from the University of Alabama; and later, an MA in art from Maharishi University in Iowa. My art work—mainly in oils—celebrates the beauty and mystery of life. I paint people and their animals; special places; illustrate books; paint portraits of flowers or other natural things; and abstracts that arise out of my meditation. I am intrigued—among other things—by water, reflections, and extreme light and shadow. I give private lessons in painting and drawing, sell limited edition, signed prints of my paintings, work on commission and sell original art work. My work has been in many solo and group shows in the Southeast and Midwest, has won awards and is in private collections in the U.S. and Germany. |
